Q: Removed the DPF, but the light is still on the display?

A: To clear the DPF light, the easiest method is to use a mazda dealer level diagnostic tool or an IDS to perform all resets - oil counter - dpf sensor counter - dpf pressure differential sensor


If your tool does not have the features for mazda vehicles, then there is a manual reset procedure as follows

How to start DPF cleaning process

VERY IMPORTANT: Do only this outdoors with 5m free behind the exhaust and with the hood open.

1. Make sure the engine is warmed up (important).

2. Start the engine.

3. Connect the pin in the red circle to earth (chassis).

4. Press the accelerator to the floor and release 2 times.

5. The engine speed increases, if not got to (2).

6. This process can take up to 60 min and is very hard on the battery.

7. When the engine goes to idle remove the wire to chassis.

8. Let it run for 3 min before turning off.


To stop the cleaning process press the clutch down and put into 1'st gear and

hold until it idles or disconnect the wire. Let it run for 3 min before turning off.

How to reset DPF after cleaning process

1. Ignition to position on.

2. Connect the pin in the red circle to earth (chassis).

3. Press the accelerator to the floor and release 2 times.

4. Ignition to position off.

5. Remove the wire between the connector and chassis.


How to reset after an oil change

1. Ignition to position on.

2. Connect the pin in the red circle to earth (chassis).

3. Press the accelerator to the floor and realese 5 times.

4. The glow plug light flashes 5 times when resetting is complete.

5. Ignition to position off.

6. Remove the wire between the connector and chassis.

How to calibrate the injectors

1. Make sure the engine is warmed up (important).

2. Start the engine.

3. Connect the pin in the red circle 5 times within 5 sec. to earth (chassis).

4. The glow plug light flashes 5 times when the calibration is finish (< 3 min). **

5. If not got to (2).

The injector calibration can be a bit tricky to get right the first time so don't panic just keep on trying.
